Sorry I have been quiet for so long...

Sorry, I have been quiet for so long...life has been at a high pace since my last post. The months of May and June flew by and now July is almost half over. May was filled with end of school activities including graduation for a terrific group of students whom I will miss very much in the fall but know that the Lord has great plans for all of them and He will provide all their needs. June meant camp and Fuge this year was incredible! We took 48 students and 13 adults which is the largest group Westview has ever sent to camp. It isn't about the numbers though, but about the life change that took place at camp...we had a brother and sister accept Christ at camp and their family is on fire right now for Christ and that is just amazing to see how He can change a whole family with His love! Our group also drew much closer together over the week and is continuing to grow everyday, in numbers as well as in spiritual maturity. The first 11 days of July have been a blur with all the patriotic events of the first week followed up by VBS this week, capped off with a lock-in last night for our students. We had somewhere around 89 students at our lock and several adults helping out. It was just amazing to see the number of kids willing to 'hang out' at church on a Friday night. We played games and ate tons of junk food, but the most awesome experience last night was a 3:00 am worship service led by the students themselves and our two summer missionaries sharing their testimonies. The time spent in the presence of God lasted for several hours with students praying, sharing, singing, some rededicating their lives to Him and even a couple of students accepting Christ as their savior! I am often amazed at our students by their willingness to praise God with all that they have and without the shame and embarrassment that we as adults allow to keep us from the unbridled joy and love we should show our Creator and Lord daily! I am often awed and amazed at what happens when we come to the presence of Christ with our hearts poured out and allow Him to fill us up with the things He chooses for us. I am not surprised that I mostly experience this when I am worshipping with my students! Their love for the God who loves them so much He sent His son to die on a cross for them creates a passion for worship and praise unparalleled by anything man can create on his own. As a student minister it is my 'job' to help mold and encourage young people to be like Christ, but I have found out that just as many times as I share something with my students designed to encourage them to seek Christ, they return it tenfold with how I should long to praise and worship Him just as much! I encourage you to seek that same kind of passion as you worship our Savior tomorrow or even tonight if your church has a Saturday night service. Don't let the worldview or even the 'church view' of how worship is 'supposed' to be keep you from the authentic worship He calls you to! And as always, keep seeking Him daily....

So here's what God's doing...

So some of you have come here for the Big Announcement from my status on Facebook.  Well I'm not trying to be mean but you will need to read through this blogpost to find out what it is...;-)  As most of you know, I resigned from my Student Minster position at Westview back in January.  There were some issues there and I was really feeling pulled by God to go back to school and finish my degree.   I want to say to anyone reading this who might still be at Westview that contrary to what may have been said or presented to you, things are not always what they seem.  I also want to say that I loved and still do love all the students I was privileged to have ministered to while at WBC.  That being said, I knew in January that my ability to minister to students within the framework and leadership of Westview had ceased to be possible and it was time for me to move forward with God's plan.  I enrolled as a full-time student at the BCF extension taking 19...

Time flies...

January 2010!  Really!?  It's been that long since I have posted on here?  Hard to believe and even harder to realize all that has changed since then.  There is so much that is different in my life since I last posted.  I am no longer the Student Minister at the church I was at...long story and maybe more to come later on that but for now just know that I resigned that position in January of 2011.  I haven't talked much about the reasons or circumstances that led to that publicly yet, and for now the official reason is that God is preparing me for something new in ministry.       Part of this preparation has been my returning to school full-time to finish my degree.  I took 19 hours this past Spring semester (received A's in all 8 classes, too! Praise God!), am taking 9 currently over the summer term and will finish the last 14 hours needed in the Fall to graduate in December.  I say all that to e...

Time

Time.... that unit of measurement that let's us keep track of how long we are doing something or when to meet at a certain place.   To runners, time is everything and discussed in terms of PR (personal record).  It determines if you are getting better or falling behind, if you need to train more or train harder, whether you win, or whether you lose. Some say time has no end and others say that time flies!  Enjoy life while you can because when your time is up, it's all over. In scripture we find this in Ecclesiastes 3, about time: For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:   a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;   a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;   a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;   a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather ston...
